IoT provides a positive perspective to Industries

What is IoT? Although there is no specified definition for IoT, the network or platform where every device, appliance and other products embedded with technology are connected over a shared software, sensors, and more can be defined as the Internet of Things. This article will give you an overview of how IoT has been providing a single platform (a positive perspective) to users/businesses from various industries to control multiple devices and machinery.

IoT (Internet of Things) allows us to connect with ‘things’ via the internet; this technology is applicable in all industries. For example, if your entrance is IoT enabled, the log system might help evaluate when the employees are leaving and calculate the salary accordingly (without manual interference). This process helps ease the pressure on other departments as they won’t have to calculate logs to pay the correct wage manually.

Similarly, IoT can be adopted within various organisations and is not limited to one or two industries. IoT has been helping companies increase their productivity, efficiency and skills of their employees. Let’s see how IoT is providing a positive perspective amongst various industries:

Manufacturing Industry:

IoT devices are now available in a push-fit format, as a small device that cen be embedded within any device to make it IoT enabled. Hence, any manufacturing company producing switches, lights, fans and other consumer products can use such devices to convert their ordinary product into a smart one. Apart from a thorough report of the usage and power consumption, it also helps understand the market, the demand of a product or product line and enhance the product according to use and feedback. With IoT, manufacturers can provide the right product with the right quality and smart features to the consumers at the right time.

Transportation Industry:

Whether used to manage traffic or to track rented cars, IoT can provide solutions to various traffic industry problems. Whether it is an accident or road construction, IoT makes the traffic cameras smart and provides diversion & alternate routes to the people on the road. Similarly, companies within the industry can use IoT to track the products or delivery vehicles and check the consumption, performance, sanitisation, and more.

Hospitality Industry:

With the COVID19 pandemic creating chaos across the globe, contactless products and devices are in demand. Smart switches, smart plugs, curtain controllers, smart lights and other smart devices are now the highest priority within the hospitality industry as it provides the ‘New Normal’ customer service. These smart devices operate with wireless technology and can be controlled with an app while enhancing the hotel’s capabilities and the customer’s experience. Ordering food, amenities, checking services and offers provided by the hotel and more facilities can be added within the app as per the hotel’s requirement.

Realty Industry:

Smart gadgets are now a common requirement in both commercial and residential buildings. Homes and offices embedded with smart devices provide safety, security and convenience to the user as it helps keep track of who is coming or leaving the property at what time. Apart from embedded smart devices, IoT/automation helps provide real-time updates to the builders on resource consumption, construction status, heavy machinery and equipment performance, etc. Automation will help upsell the property as smart devices within the office or home have become a necessity.

Agriculture and Aquaculture Industry:

These two industries have gone through an immense change in the past two years. With the evolution of technology, both sectors are now opting for an automation process. Motors and other heavy machinery are now being automated with IoT devices, as it helps provide real-time functionality and helps the farmers operating from home. In case of dry-run, over-run and other technical issues, the smart device helps send an alert/notification to the user and automatically shuts down the machine.

Those mentioned above are a few of the industries that have adopted IoT and have seen profits doubling over a short period. Automation of industries helps track inventory, manage the resources, collect & share data between companies or devices, increase the productivity, skill and efficiency of an employee, and provide interactive engagement. IoT is the technology that connects things instead of people with an app or a software platform.

The concept of IoT is to provide convenience to the user and make their everyday mundane task vanish with just one click. Such technology is a game-changer as it can be adopted by businesses and individuals alike. With the automation of products and services, companies can provide quality work to their clients and accept the fact that IoT is a technology that came as a trend but is here to stay!
